Minimal Risk requires a UK Government Security Cleared individual to join an already existing team to undertake Security Officer duties based in Europe, exact location to be disclosed to shortlisted candidates only.
The duties will be to provide control of access and asset protection to a Foreign and Commonwealth (FCO) project whilst the delegation office in the current NATO building is relocated to a new office. You will be required to assist in monitoring local nationals within the secure area and escort them around as necessary to ensure the security integrity of the office is maintained at all times.  A roster system is being utilised to ensure 24/7 cover and provide for rest days during the deployment. Shifts are 12 hours, but a flexible approach to support the Project Team is essential.

Job Requirements

  1. Follow the direction of FCO Senior Project Staff.
  2. Prevent unauthorised access to certain parts of the building as directed.
  3. Protect the property and assets.
  4. Prevent unauthorised removal of official and/or personal property from Post.
  5. Respond to emergencies out of hours; e.g. fire, flood or intrusion into any building and compounds and request as necessary.
  6. Detect and report sightings of suspicious activities, objects or persons out of hours.
  7. Act responsibly towards official personnel and visitors (both authorised and unauthorised) with due regard to their human rights, local and international law.
  8. Maintain and utilise the access control systems applicable to the post concerned (as required)
  9. Adhere to Post Security Regulations.
  10. Ensure that when required the correct areas/buildings are locked and secured.
  11. Enforce entry/exit control to buildings by checking and confirming as necessary personal identification and only permitting access to personnel (after searching and removal of prohibited items) with the necessary authorisation to visits outside of normal working hours.
  12. Conduct regular patrols and searches around designated areas of Post as agreed with the local Security Authority.
  13. Monitor alarm systems, CCTV and any other security systems and investigate and report suspicious activities, objects or persons out of normal office hours.
  14. Supervise non-vetted external contractors’ staff when necessary (e.g. cleaners, painters, maintenance workers) in the designated areas of the buildings, out of hours.
  15. Be on standby whilst at post to provide additional security and back up as required.
  16. It is essential that the right individual is flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.

  • The right person will be reliable, responsible and be able to demonstrate effective judgement.
  • Must have very good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work as part of a small team.
Terms and Conditions
Flights will be provided at Economy class
Accommodation will be provided close to the Consulate.
Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) provided on a daily rate whilst in country (£15 per day).
Daily Rate – £150
Deployment Dates:
April / May 2015 until project end, anticipated to be July 2015. Deployment will depend on the processing times for the additional clearances required.
Due to the security and specialist nature of this task, we would require the right persons to be able to cover this deployment from start to finish.
Security Clearances will be confirmed before any deployment is made.  Copies of official Clearance Certificates will be required prior to any interview taking place and will be asked for.
