 Job Description

Minimal Risk are contracted on behalf of the British Government to build up and maintain a sustainable pool of contracted OSMs for roles World Wide.

We are aiming to hold initial interviews in Hereford. Potential candidates will be contacted regarding their availability to attend.

The Job Description is as follows:

Overview

In consultation with the Security Advisers (SA), to ensure that physical security measures, including vehicle and visitor access controls at posts are in line with relevant standards.
In consultation with the Technical Management Officer (TMO) to ensure the integrity of the technical security of post.
In consultation with the Security Officer (SO) and Security Committee (SC), to ensure all staff adopt good security practices.
Working with the SO, to ensure that Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and other emergency plans are regularly reviewed. Ensure recommendations are carried out.

Duties and Responsibilities (not definitive)
Manage and develop staff by providing locally employed guards with additional responsibilities. At post provide guidance for LE staff on search techniques and what to do at certain levels of awareness and handling the public.

Provide advice and support for reception staff.

Study the LE guard force operating procedures. Instigate changes if necessary.

Make sure control procedures and systems meet Post requirements.

With the assistance of the TMO, ensure technical equipment is working efficiently and is being used by the LE staff correctly.

Instill in the Security Staff the importance of inspecting all rooms of the Embassy building for classified documents and that equipment is switched off after use. Liaise with other host nation security agencies to assess the threat and update procedures and facilities after consultation with Corporate HQ.

Investigate all incidents at Post to ensure correct procedures are being followed and implementing any lessons learned. Reports of these incidents should be passed to London for further dissemination.

Ensure routes of Senior Staff are varied to places visited on a regular basis.
Make sure investigations are carried out on any accidents involving official vehicles.
Drivers being hired must be tested on their driving ability before being hired.
Check the local senior and staff accommodation.
Ensure that emergency procedures such as fire and counter attack/terrorist drills are carried out regularly.

Make every effort to be present when interviewing prospective Security Staff for employment.

Ensure newly arrived staff are given a full briefing by the SO of security awareness, and that Staff and families are regularly up-dated on security issues.

Design and implement training programmes for Locally Employed (LE) staff.

On a regular basis, with assistance from SO, update Security Procedures and Regulations.
Delivering results by inspecting that routines and rosters have been undertaken during absence from Post.

Discussion with the SO that all Security Staff have conscientiously been carrying out duties.

Ensure that the current state of vigilance is being properly monitored and maintained.

Successful candidates must remain flexible and adaptable to working practices as they will vary in different locations.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Must show evidence of:
Middle management experience in HM Armed Forces (Former Officer or Warrant Officer)
Experience in managing/supervising contract guard-forces in conflict affected areas
Experience in managing/supervising PSC Armed Protection Teams
Experience in operating as Security Manager for government or large international companies in conflict areas
Experience of briefing senior staff/management in government/large companies
The ability to influence & persuade senior staff of the veracity of their decisions
Previous experience of making decisions in isolated and stressful circumstance

Terms and Conditions
Generally rotations will vary dependent on location.
Contract lengths are variable
Flights will be economy.
Salary per day will be various depending on location (high/medium/low risk)

Vetting
All Staff must either currently hold or be prepared to obtain security clearance to DV level before any deployment. You MUST be a UK national to apply.
